Ms. Syers was born in New York City on May 30, 1941, and grew up in Flatbush, NY. She attained a BS in Mathematics from St. John's University, worked as an underwriter, then as a High School Math teacher in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Sue and Don worked side by side for over 50 years and Hurricane Fence became one of the leaders in its industry. Suzanne also enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society as well as the March of Dimes. She was awarded Woman of the Year by the March of Dimes! In retirement, she would travel back and forth to her homes in Sanibel Island, Florida, and Upper Captiva, Florida where she enjoyed good friends, shelling, and counting dolphins.
