Obituary for Shirley Ann Raye

In loving memory of Shirley Ann Raye, 81, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 1, 2022. She was the devoted wife of Phillip Raye for 59 years and the loving mother of Jeffery Raye and Lori Taylor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Shirley was one of four daughters, born to Dennis and Annie O'Briant on 6/28/1941 in Rotan Texas. She graduated from Roby High School in 1959 and moved to Dallas where she meet Phil in 1963. They married that October, making a home in Grand Prairie and San Antonio before settling in Austin. Shirley began her career in insurance, retiring from TML as an insurance claims adjuster in 2008.

Shirley was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. As a longtime member of Manchaca Baptist Church, Shirley dedicated her time to volunteering in the children's Sunday school programs, vacation bible school and with the bereavement committee. She was an avid gardener who loved to work out in the yard and was also a gifted seamstress volunteering

to make quilts for the Linus project. She was a strong woman of faith who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and integrity. Shirley was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she

touched. Left to honor and continue her legacy of family are husband, Phillip Raye, son, Jeffery Raye and wife Lisa, daughter, Lori Taylor and husband Gregory, grandchildren, Melanie Roberson and husband Kevin, Jordan Raye and wife Autumn, Ashley Taylor, Alexis Jones and husband Daniel, Joshua Taylor

and wife Kayla, Lindsey Taylor, Sara Raye, Travis Marrs and wife Leah, Austin Marrs and wife Victoria ,great-grandchildren, Winter, Ryleigh, Greyson, Andie, Hadley, Lucy and Zachary with 2 more great grandchildren arriving in February. Extended family includes sisters Altie Freeman and Barbara Fisher, sister-in-law Angelyn Williams and husband John, and many cousins, nieces and

nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Annie O'Briant and sister Dorothy Decker.

The service will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Manchaca Baptist Church located at 1215 FM1626 Manchaca, Texas. Graveside service will be held at Onion Creek Memorial Park located at 11610 Chapel Lane Austin, Texas immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manchaca Baptist Church at PO Box 400 Manchaca, Texas 78652. Shirley, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace
