Obituary for Ruth Ann Wiseman

Ruth Wiseman passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022, with loving family at her side in her residence at Querencia Barton Creek in Austin, Texas. Ruth was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 3,1927 to Leo Thomas Brown and Susan Berens Brown. The family moved to Dallas when she was young. The oldest of four, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl, sisters Janice Claire Brown Reynolds and Mary Sue Keely. Ruth attended Ursuline Academy, North Dakota State University and University of Texas Arlington where she received a Bachelor's degree in English.

Ruth was a devoted mother, cherished her family, and took particular joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a passion for contemporary art and established The Ruth Wiseman Art Gallery (1976-1992). Ruth was a docent at Dallas Museum of Art for many years and worked extensively with the Dallas Arts Community. She was a skilled musician, gifted at piano and voice and served as a member of the St Michael and All Angels, Dallas choir for many years.

Ruth had a spirit of adventure and was fond of the outdoors enjoying skiing, sailing, cycling, hiking and swimming. She also looked forward to spending summers in her cabin enjoying the mountains of New Mexico. Ruth's independent, adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively to Europe, Russia, Australia, Canada, South and Central America.

Ruth is survived by her brother Thomas Leo Brown, daughter Dulcie Ann Schalk (husband Stephen Schalk), Clayton Wiseman (wife Nancy Wiseman), Carl Wiseman (wife Adzie Wiseman), Grandchildren Carmen Drulis, John Schalk, Joseph Schalk, Zachary Wiseman, Nicholas Wiseman, Claire Gagarin, Camille Wiseman, Grant Wiseman and great grandchildren, Bennett Schalk, Sutton Schalk and Drew Gagarin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 9,2022 at St Christopher's Episcopal Church at 2:00pm located at 8724 Travis Hills Dr, Austin, TX 78735.
