Ruth Marie Blackstock Coleman, 91, of Austin, Texas, passed from this life on Friday, March 11, 2022. She went peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife to James A. Coleman of 39 years, mother to 5 children, Grandma to 7 grandchildren, "Malcom"/Grandma to 15 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

She was born on October 6, 1930, in Austin, Texas, to Thomas Lee Walker Blackstock and Ruby Orita Swofford. She graduated from Austin High School. She worked as a cook and waitress where she met James A. Coleman. On April 13, 1950 she married James Anthony Coleman and they had five children.

Ruth's favorite pastimes were fishing, cooking and baking, taking care of her loved ones and anyone that walked through her doors, cross stitching, crocheting, ceramics, gardening, playing games, watching game shows and laughing. She played a vital role in raising her grandkids and great grandkids. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger.

Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Orita Swofford; father, Thomas Lee Walker Blackstock; husband, James Anthony Coleman; Siblings, Inez Wylie, Thomas Blackstock, Jack Blackstock, Louise Bunting, LeRoy Blackstock and Katherine Blackstock; Children, Stewart Coleman, John Coleman, Weldon Coleman and Annette Coleman.

Ruth is survived by her loving son, Darrell Coleman; daughter-in-laws, Cindy and Lisa Coleman; grandchildren Nicky & Eric Coronado, Stacy Thorp, Sara Coleman, Tiffany Coleman, James and Amy Coleman, John Coleman, Ashley & Reginald Winn; 15 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and brothers Milton & Billie Blackstock and Robert "Bobby" & Ann Blackstock.

A viewing will be held Thursday, March 17th from 1-2pm. Funeral services will be held immediately following, beginning at 2pm. These services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
