Obituary for Roy Lopez Gonzales

Roy 'Rowdy' Lopez Gonzales, 73, left his earthly home and began his journey to eternal life on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

Roy was born to Albert T and Ella Gonzales on December 11, 1948 in Austin, Texas where he remained a lifelong resident. At age 17, Roy entered the United States Navy. He served his country and was so proud of his time in the service. Upon returning to civilian life, he met and married Emma Zapata with whom he shared children. He worked as a real estate agent, a printer, a construction worker among his many skills. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan., Rowdy loved going to Goodwill and he had a passion of refurbishing and making old things new again. He did amazing work despite his health challenges, He kept busy everyday with home projects and you could occasionally see him riding his scooter through H E B and Home Depot.

Roy, 'Rowdy', as he was affectionately known by so many that knew and loved him was a generous, caring and thoughtful man. His family was his world and he would stop at nothing to do what he could for them.

Roy is preceded in death by his father, Albert T Gonzales, brother, Albert L 'Zombie' Gonzales, sister, Mary Ellen 'Nena' Gonzales, daughter, Monica Michelle Rocha, son, Adrian Royce Gonzales along with paternal and maternal grandparents plus many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Roy is survived by son, Philip and (Ninfa) Vidouria, daughter Anissa Yvonne Gonzales, son, Isaac Royce Gonzales, mother, Ella L Gonzales, sister, Mary Lou and (Luis Soto) Rodriguez-Soto, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Rowdy never knew a stranger. He will be fondly remembered by many for his humor and character. Upon entering a room, Rowdy would immediately fill it with excitement and laughter. He lived life to the fullest and took pride in caring for those he loved.

Pallbearers will include Frederick Louis Pulido, Nicholas Louis Pulido, Zachary Edward Rodriguez, Albert Christino Padilla, Anthony Christian Padilla and Jacob Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Edward Campos, Jacob Albert Telford, Jaden Edward Telford, Carson Lynn Telford, Israel Carrillo and Jovani Carrillo.

Friends and family are invited to Rowdy's Celebration of Life Service beginning with visitation on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 5:00pm followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Farewell service on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by a Committal Service at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 South IH 35 Frontage Road, Austin, Texas 78704

A luncheon is planned immediately after conclusion of services at Harrell Funeral Home Reception Room. All are welcome too attend for fellowship.

We will have Rowdy in our hearts forever.
