Obituary for Roger Elliot Penton

Roger Elliot Penton, 78 years of age, peacefully passed away at his home due to complications from Dementia on March 8th, 2023. He was a resident of Montgomery, Texas. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Roger was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the fifth of eight children. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1962. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He served in Okinawa, Japan as a morse code interceptor. After fulfilling his service requirements, he attended Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology and graduated at the top of his class. He worked at various high-tech companies throughout his life and retired after a 20+ year career at Shell Corporation in Geismar, Louisiana.

Roger is survived by his wife Rose Penton, his step-children Michael Hooks of Austin, Texas, Tammy Duvic Hooks of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Terry Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is survived by his sibling Bobby Penton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Paul Penton, parents Jules 'Denver' Penton and Lorena Westbrook Penton, his brothers Kevin Penton, Dr. David Penton, Perry Penton, Maj. Billy Penton and sisters Barbara Strickland Penton and Kathy Penton.

The family expresses gratitude for the loving care given to Roger by Suncrest Hospice, Austin, Texas.
