Robert C. Quintanilla
Robert C. Quintanilla, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 25, 2022. He was born on the Los Lipanes Ranch, near Lyford, Texas, on October 10, 1930, to Jesus and Maria Quintanilla. He was one of five children.
Robert attended a one room schoolhouse, having to leave early to assist on the ranch.
There he learned the value of hard work, never afraid to get his hands dirty sunup to sundown to get the job done, a lesson passed on to his children. On Sept. 23, 1948, he married Rachel Rodriquez, the love of his life. Together they raised twelve children in Seminole, Texas, with the guidance of their faith and most dear friends.
Robert and Rachel enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Robert was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed an appreciation for land and livestock, and satisfaction in one's work, instilling the same strong work ethic to his children. Later in life he was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation for eleven years, meeting some of his life-long friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rachel of 69 years and his first son, Robert (Evelyn) Quintanilla, Jr., and survived by 11 children, Jessica (Rusty) Ragsdill, Estella (James) Doyal, Esther (Don) Batts, John (Veronica) Quintanilla, Rally (Joe) Flores, Reuben (Monica) Quintanilla, Roy (Minnie) Quintanilla, Ramiro Quintanilla, Rene (Anna) Quintanilla, David (Elena) Quintanilla, and Rudy (Trisha) Quintanilla, 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A family service will be held at 11:30am on July 1, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin,TX. "Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say, and this is where the cowboy rides away."
