Obituary for Robert Carroll English

Dr. Robert "Bob" Carroll English, 80, passed away at his home in Buda, Texas. Robert was born on January 8, 1942 to Coleman Carroll English and Wilma June English in Ripley, West Virginia. Robert played football for and graduated from Nederland High School in Nederland, Texas in 1960. Robert married his soul mate, Ann Elizabeth Carter in May of 1961. They were happily married for 46 years until her life prematurely ended July 23, 2007. Ann remained the love of his life and he always looked forward to the day they would be reunited again.

Robert graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, with a Bachelor's Degree in 1965, after which he graduated from the University of Texas-Dental School in Houston, Texas, with his D.D.S. in 1968. He and Ann moved to Austin, Texas, where he started his private dental practice in South Austin from 1968 to 1997. During these 27 years, Bob and Ann lived in Westlake where they raised their three wonderful children. During his career, Robert served on both the Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association in various capacities. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. Additionally, Robert enjoyed announcing the Westlake High School football games throughout the football season.

In 1997, Robert sold his dental practice and thought it was time to retire, however, after a short time, he realized that he really was not ready for retirement yet. He and Ann moved to Marble Falls where he practiced dentistry for a while and later moved to Killeen, Texas, where Robert was a dentist for the U.S. Army at Fort Hood from 2003 to 2016. He enjoyed his time there helping the soldiers with their dental needs. In 2016, Robert decided it was now time to retire and eventually moved to Buda, Texas for the rest of his days.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brother, Donald Allen English.

He is survived by his three children: Craig English, Derek English and Debbie English; his three grandchildren: Caleb, Baylie and Josh English and their mother, Donna M. English; His sister, Karen English Sanchez and her husband, Leroy;

Robert will be greatly missed by so many dear friends and family.

There will be a visitation time from Noon to 2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral service at 2:00 p.m. this Friday, June 10th, 2022, at the Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Tx 78745. 512-443-1366. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, 10739 Twin Creeks Road, Manchaca, Tx 78652.
