On Monday, July 25, 2022, Nelda Adriana Cadena, beloved daughter, niece, and cousin, passed away at the age of 49. Nelda was born on December 18, 1972, in Corpus Christi, but lived most of her life in Austin, Texas and was a graduate of Crockett High School. She also earned an Associates of Arts in Foreign Language from Austin Community College.

Nelda had a passion for Japan, loving both the culture and the language, and even learned to speak Japanese. She enjoyed watching anime before it was popular, reading a good Harlequin romance novel, and writing imaginative short stories. Nelda loved making crafts of all kinds, which she often gifted to her loved ones, and was always quick to pick up little, thoughtful mementos for her family and friends to show her love and appreciation for them.

Nelda is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Juan and Nelda Cadena, and maternal grandparents, Rudolfo Gaona and Estella Davila Gaona. She is survived by her parents, Frank and Beatriz Cadena, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins who will miss her beyond measure.

Services for Nelda will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:00AM, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Christopher House, Hospice of Austin, or any cancer research foundation.
