Molly Jane Rios Anderson
Molly Jane Anderson, 88, was born Juanita Amelia Rios on August 12, 1933, in Laredo, Texas to Arturo Barrera Rios and Rosa Berta SaldaƱa Rios. Growing up in Laredo when the use of the Spanish language was discouraged in school, she became Molly Jane, and at Martin High, her friends called her Jane.
Molly Jane married her high school sweetheart, Jim Chandler, in September 1949 and the following year they welcomed their daughter, Linda. After their move to San Antonio, Linda was joined by sisters Carole and Audrey, and brother Chris.
Molly and Jim divorced in 1965 when divorce was rare, and Molly became a single working mother raising four children on her own. She met her second husband, Ben Anderson, at work, and they were married in May 1969. Molly welcomed Ben's four small children, Kim, Donna, David and Kevin to the family as the children spent a lot of time with them. After retirement, Molly and Ben spent many happy years living in the country outside of Blanco with a succession of beloved dachshunds. After Ben's passing in 2017, Molly moved to a retirement home in Granbury to be near Carole and later went to Austin to live with Linda. Molly passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022.
Molly was preceded in death by her baby sister Ofelia, her parents, and her husband, Ben.
