Mary Anna (Harrison) Scheie daughter of Benjamin Homer Harrison and Myrtis Idelle (Barham) Jones, was born in October of 1931 in Sallisaw, Sequoyah, OK.

She was a 1949 graduate of Mabelvale High School Mabelvale, AR, and a 1963 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK with a major in speech. While working her way through college she learned litho offset printing. She took additional hours at Texas Lutheran College to fulfill requirements for a major in English.

In May of 1963 she married Paul Olaf Scheie, whom she met in Oklahoma City. Shortly after marriage she and Paul moved to State College PA. They lived there for ten years before moving to Texas, where Paul, with a PhD in biophysics, taught at Texas Lutheran University. They spent the 1980-81 school year in Bergen, Norway, where Paul was a visiting professor at the University of Bergen. Mary Anna stayed at home with her children until her youngest was in 3rd grade then she worked part time at the post office on the campus of Texas Lutheran University. She later moved to the publishing department and became the Director of Publishing Services for the University.

Mary Anna and Paul are survived by two children, Eric Olaf, and Maren Hannah, one grandchild, the son of Maren and Matt Frechette, Jean-Luc Frechette; Mary Anna's siblings Charles Ray, Robert, Jonathan, Rachel, and Paul David and many nieces and nephews; Paul's brother Carl and wife Mary, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1:00PM to 2:00PM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX. Memorial Service will follow at 2:00PM at the funeral home.
