Obituary for Mary Olvera Murillo

Mary Olvera Murillo passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 26, 2022, at 97 years of age. She was born on July 8th, 1924, in Austin, Texas and lived her entire life on the same street in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood. She married Leonor Murillo on October 13, 1946, and they raised three sons together. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her great-grandson, Michael Edward, and her great-granddaughter Sarah Michele, and her grandson, Andrew Michael Vincent.

Mary was a caring woman that was deeply devoted to her family, her community, and her faith. She grew up in the Catholic faith and had been a parishioner of San Jose Catholic Church since it was founded in the late 1930's. She was an Hija de Maria as a teenager, a Guadalupana, and a member of the choir with her husband.

She spent her life in service to others. Whether at Church, or at home, she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She cared for her family, friends, and neighbors by cooking them delicious food, giving them a place to stay, and just by sitting and chatting about old times. She was also active in the Democratic Party, going door-to-door to get people to the polls to vote.

She will be remembered as a witty, strong, and kind woman who loved God and her family above all else.

Her sons, Tommy, Mike, and Eddy (Leslie), and their families would like to thank everyone who touched our mom's heart. Especially her countless nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family who laughed and sang with her, and showed her love and respect.

We will be eternally grateful and appreciative of everyone who loved her. From the bottom of our hearts, may the Lord be with you forever and ever.

Amen
