Luis Gutierrez, age 85, of Kyle died on February 9, 2023. He was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to Juan and Maria Concepcion Ramirez Gutierrez. His family soon moved to Texas when Luis was 12 and he and his family were migrant farm workers traveling across the country as agricultural calendars changed.

Luis was one of six children with siblings Maria de Jesus, Maria del Carmen, Maria Guadalupe, Renato and Juan. The family settled down in San Antonio, Texas and Luis worked at the Menger Hotel downtown. He was a very good looking young man and was encouraged to move north and pursue a modeling career.

Following graduation from High School in San Antonio he moved to Chicago, Illinois and began a 45 year career in the Clothing and Textile industry as a tailor and model for Hart Schaffner and Marx and Christian Dior labels. Along with a home in Chicago, Luis and his wife Higinia enjoyed escaping to the mountains outside Monterrey, Mexico. In 2005 they retired to Kyle, Texas to be close to family.

Luis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Higinia Garza Gutierrez, his son Jose Gutierrez, daughter Maria Gutierrez, son Armando Gutierrez, Sr., grandchildren Angelica Gutierrez, Alazne Leon, Mikel Leon, Sarina Gutierrez and Armando Gutierrez, Jr. and great-grandchildren.

A visitation and Rosary will be held at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Saint Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church.
