Obituary for Lucy Hunt Davis

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lucy Davis, our loving and devoted mom, grandma and friend to all whose lives she touched. Lucy passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on May 11, 2022, in her home. She was just 52 years old.

Lucy is survived by her loving daughter, Aileen Stewart, and her son-in-law, Steve; her adoring grandsons: Evan and James; her devoted sister Carol Johnson and her nephews, Kevin, Richard, and David; and her former husband Edward Davis. All of whom she loved and touched deeply. She is preceded in death by her father, Lee Johnson, and a host of her beloved animals through the years.

Lucy was a phenomenal mother and grandmother. She loved her daughter, Aileen, and her grandsons, Evan and James, and was so incredibly proud of each of them. Lucy and Aileen loved to go on adventures together, whether they be trips to far off places, going antiquing together and finding new spots to eat along the way, or seeing Elton John in concert (again). Lucy loved to collect rocks and gemstones and hunt for fossils. Her grandsons shared those passions with her, and they had many plans to find more together. Lucy will be fondly remembered and loved by her family, and their memories together will be forever cherished.

To say that Lucy was an animal lover would be an understatement. Lucy was a hero to hundreds (maybe thousands) of animals throughout her life. She was an animal magnet. Lost and stray animals would somehow find her, and she would keep them safe. Lucy stopped traffic on multiple occasions to make sure that she could save a dog or cat. Over the last six years, Lucy has volunteered much of her time to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter by providing transport to rescue for hundreds of animals, as well as being a loving home for many foster pets through the years. She was well-known among her friends at the animal shelter for her generosity, honesty (sometimes brutal), and her tenacious spirit when advocating for the shelter pets. Lucy also volunteered for Shelter Pet Safety Net, as their missions also meant a great deal to her. We will forever remember Lucy as the kind, compassionate, and sometimes feisty woman she was.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter and/or Shelter Pet Safety Net, as we believe that helping to care for animals is the best way to honor her memory.
