Obituary for Kathryn Elizabeth Cason

Kathryn (Kathy) Elizabeth Cason was born November 13, 1955 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Warren Wiley White and Minnie Lorene White. Kathy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, but peacefully, on August 16, 2022 at the age of 66 in her home in Austin, Texas.

Kathy became a nurse at the age of 19 when she completed her vocational nursing program in Alpine, Texas. Some years later she received her Registered Nursing license after completing an Associate Degree of Nursing program in Hobbs, New Mexico. During her 47 year career as a nurse she did just about every job a nurse can do, having worked in acute care, long-term care, and home health settings. She was a true professional nurse through and through always giving her all to each and everyone of her patients. One of her most important patients was her oldest grandson Tyler, who became severely disabled at the age of 2 following a major illness. Tyler, who is now 30 years old, has been cared by Kathy and Wayne since his illness and he has always been the center of their universe, living in their home and being the beneficiary of nursing care like none other.

Kathy was only 5'2" but she carried herself more like she was 6'5". She had a big personality, a flair for drama, and was always looking to give hugs and kisses to her grandchildren. She was a little scary behind the wheel of a car, but ended up where she intended to go most of the time. If she was watching TV it was probably a true crime or murder mystery show. It was a little concerning to her family, but as far as they know, she never acted on whatever fantasies drove her to watch that content so endlessly. She loved her family fiercely, spoiled her grandchildren with reckless abandon, and was completely unapologetic for it. Her love of Christmas knew no bounds and having her family around her during the holidays was one of her greatest joys.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Lorene, and her older brother Michael Cox. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Cason, her four children, Lance, Amy, Krystal and Kyle, her daughters-in-law Anna and Sarah, and five grandchildren, Tyler, Courtney, Joshua, Elijah, and Norah each of whom was her undisputed favorite.
