Obituary for Johnny Martinez

Johnny Martinez of Buda, Texas entered eternal rest on January 26, 2023 at age 44. Born to Juanita Martinez and Juan Menchaca on March 20, 1978 in San Marcos, Texas, Johnny was eight of nine children.

Johnny graduated from Jack C. Hays High School in 1997 and later pursued training to become an HVAC Service Technician. He married the love of his life, Hope (Diaz) Martinez on July 8, 2006. Together, they later welcomed their son, Ivan Martinez. Throughout the years, Johnny was Ivan's biggest fan. Ivan was his daily motivation. Johnny was an active member of the Union: UA Local 286 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Central Texas. He faithfully served the Lord and the church as a parishioner at Santa Cruz Catholic Church. Johnny was a trusted employee at Dynamic Systems, Inc., and volunteered many years of his time at Manchaca Optimist Youth Sports Complex.

Johnny will be remembered for his work ethic and dedication as a loving husband, brother, father, son, uncle, friend, mentor, and coach. Johnny was the kind of man you could call on for help for just about anything and it was often the case he would be there when you most needed him. He was a dear friend to many of his neighbors and as an influential coach he impacted many young lives and baseball families in and around the community. His kindness, care, and friendly smile will truly be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Menchaca. He is survived by his loving wife, Hope Martinez and their son Ivan Martinez, his mother, Juanita Martinez, siblings: Soila (Gabriel) Moreno, Oscar (Angie) DeLeon, Martin DeLeon, Janie (Ernest) Lopez, Joe (MaryLou) DeLeon, Antonio (RoseAnn) DeLeon, David (Venetra) DeLeon, Henry (Jessica) Martinez, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts.
