Obituary for Jimmie Lee Bond

James "Jimmie" Lee Bond passed away on February 26, 2023 in Kyle, Texas. He was born to Benjamin Lee Bond and Ruby Lee Parton in Brownwood, Texas on September 5, 1925.

Jimmie was raised in Brownwood and was orphaned in the 5th grade. His grandmother Parton took care of him and his siblings. This was during the Great Depression so it was always a struggle to keep food on the table. Jimmie found work as a brick mason's assistant and as head of household, he was not immediately drafted into the military. When his sisters became old enough to work, he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Saipan where he served as an Army Medic Corpsman until the end of the war.

After the war he returned to Brownwood where he married Eva Grace "Hawthorne" Bond and found work in construction. They left Brownwood for the West Texas Oilfield and in December of 1950 he went to work for Pure Oil Company, which later became Union Oil. He worked 33 1/2 years at the Dollarhide Gas Plant.

Jimmie retired from Union Oil and moved to Lake Buchanan in 1983. After Eva passed, he married Lillian White and moved to Llano. He became involved in the county by joining the Masonic Lodge where he was the recipient of many awards and accolades such as the Golden Trowl Award.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Ruth Brownlee and husband, Elvin, of Andrews, Texas; his son Jimmy Neal Bond of Luling, Texas; Grandchildren - Elvin Brownlee III, Jay Reese Brownlee, Brian Neal Bond and James Andrew Bond; 9 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A visitation will be held March 7, 2023 at the Harrell Funeral Home in Llano from 5 - 7pm. Funeral service will be March 8, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Harrell Funeral Home in Llano.
