Jesse Ortiz, 76, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2022, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He was born to parents Rosendo Ortiz and Juana Sanchez on November 28, 1945, in Wellington, Texas. Over the span of his lifetime, Jesse was a hard worker, brave soldier, and beloved co-worker. He courageously and proudly served his country as an infantry soldier for the Marines in the Vietnam War. He worked for the Iron Workers Union for 12 years constructing several of the high-rise buildings in downtown Austin. Jesse ultimately retired from the Education Service Center in Austin where he fulfilled many roles.

Jesse was known for his love of football, fishing, gardening, and making his delicious pecan pralines, strawberry jam, and savory menudo.

Jesse is survived by Mary, his best friend, love of his life, and wife of 51 years, his three daughters, Paula Ortiz Harmon, Diana Ortiz and Connie Ortiz and granddaughter Hazel Harmon. He is also survived by his siblings, Minnie Arevalo, Julia Ortiz, Sam Ortiz, and many nieces and nephews.

We rest assured that he has been met up above by his beloved sister Inez Garza, nephew Stephen Arevalo, and others that have passed before him.
