Obituary for Jerry Luthe Bukowsky

Jerry Luthe Bukowsky, 87, of Austin, Texas passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Born in Austin, Texas on September 8, 1934, to Frank and Faye Bukowsky. Jerry was a lifelong Austinite. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife of 45 years Willie Jean Bukowsky, brothers, Jack Bukowsky, Frank Bukowsky, J.B. Bukowsky, Dudley Bukowsky and sister Annette Rosebohm.

After attending Austin High School, Jerry joined the United States Marine Corps in January of 1952, where he fought overseas in Korea for 1 year, 3 months and 6 days. He was Honorably Discharged and in the Reserves until 1960. Upon his return home he married Willie Jean Caudle of Horatio, Arkansas on August 5, 1958. He then went to work for Southwestern Bell, where he was the Chief Steward for the Communication Workers of America (C.W.A) until he retired from Southwestern Bell in 1992.

He was an avid fisherman, fan of The University of Texas Longhorns & “Americas Team”, The Dallas Cowboys. Jerry, or as most called him “Uncle Jerry” was given the honor of becoming the first Mayor of Awesome, Texas, better known as the Moontower Saloon.

Jerry is survived by his only son, Jerry Luthe Bukowsky, Jr. & daughter-in-law Kelly Bukowsky, was Papaw to Grandchildren, Brandon Bukowsky & his wife Julie Bukowsky, Natalie Bukowsky & her love Michael Will, and Dustin Bukowsky & his wife Kelly Witcher. The honor of being “Big Papaw” to 8 beautiful great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation for Jerry will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 at Harrell Funeral Home located at 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 starting at 10:00am, followed by burial services at Cook-Walden Forest Oak Funeral home located at, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, Tx. 78749.
