Obituary for Jacob Alexander Martin

Jacob Alexander Martin, 31, passed away in his home in Austin, Texas on December 31, 2022.

Born July 15, 1991 in Eagle Pass, Texas, Jacob was the second of three children. He is

predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Anotonio Rosales, maternal grandmother, Rita Vega, and paternal grandfather, George Martin. Jacob is survived by his two siblings, Joshua Martin and Arielle Martin, and his parents, Patricia Martin, Anthony "Craig" Gordon, and Christopher Martin. Although he did not have children, Jacob was a proud father to his nearly 4 year old iguana Quazi "Z" Martin. She is a healthy 3 foot South American iguana who Jacob adopted when she was only a few weeks old.

Jacob was brought up in North Texas and pursued his post-secondary education at University of Texas at El Paso. He loved to make friends everywhere he went and have intellectual conversations with people who walked different paths than him. This made him a valuable asset in many of his customer-facing jobs along his career path.

Jacob had a great passion for the arts, teaching himself how to play the Ukulele and Violin. Art, for him, was like an oasis in which he thrived. He especially loved cubism and that can be seen in many of his works. Jacob worked with oil and acrylic paints but often would dabble in digital art and animation. Jacob was so incredibly funny and observant. He always had a way of finding the silliness of life, even on hard days. He was a multifaceted individual who coveted learning above all else. His vibrancy and warmth was such a rarity. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the luxury of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to extended family and friends for their care and support during this tragic loss. The outpour of love that has been expressed is greatly appreciated and no kind word has gone unnoticed.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 2pm to 3pm followed by a

reception, both events will take place at Harrell Funeral Home
