Henry
Helen Henry, a 54-year resident of San Marcos, passed away on February 11, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on Valentine's Day, 1938, in Harlem Springs, OH, to Lawrence and Ruth Brown. She was married to the love of her life, Arnold Henry, for 51 years.
She was a fantastic cook. You could always count on getting a great meal any time you went to her house. She learned to bake bread from her Grandmother when she was 8; and was still making her own bread up until the beginning of this year.
Helen was an excellent seamstress. She made most of her son's shirts. The San Marcos High School Drum Corp was proud to wear the uniform shirts she made. Many Texas State University girls commissioned Helen to make their formals and bridesmaid dresses. The family always looked forward to receiving matching flannel shirts at Christmas.
Helen's, hand-quilted, quilts are treasured by her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids; and many others.
Her crocheted pot holders were frequently requested by friends and family.
Roses, flowers and the vegetable garden always flourished by Helen's care and passion.
Helen loved her morning walks; stopping to visit with neighbors along the way.
In her spare time, you could always find her curled up in her chair with a good book.
If you needed cheering up, you could always call Helen and count on hearing a happy, cheerful voice on the other end.
Helen will be missed by her brother, Paul Brown, and wife Jane; Sister, Faye Edds, Sister-in-law, Kathy Brown; Son, Todd Henry and wife Sandra; Son, Michael Henry and wife Melissa; Grandsons, Jason Henry and wife, Cydney; Kevin Henry and wife, Rebecca; Andrew Biddle, and Matthew Henry; Great-Grandchildren, Austin, Olivia, Charlotte, and Evelynne; and her many Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings, Flo Beagle, Walt and John Brown.
A graveside service will be held February 24th at 2:00 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
