Hana Leibert, lovingly known as Mima Hana by her grandchildren, 72, of Buda, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on December 18th, 2022. Hana was born in San Jose, Costa Rica to Carlos Eduardo Vargas and Hania Castillo on June 2nd, 1950.
Hana went to high school at palatine high school and graduated in 1969. She went on to earn a degree as a Registered Nurse from Harper College in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed a decorated, 30-year career as a Registered Nurse for Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, Seton Healthcare in Austin, Texas, as well as directly for the City of Austin. In her time as a healthcare provider, she received honors including a Nurse of the Year in Chicago. Outside of work, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She loved to share her creations as much as she did teaching others to create their own.
Hana is survived by her husband, Steve Leibert, her children, Ariel Vargas, Alan Vargas and wife Jennifer Vargas, Dinah Cassidy and husband Jay Cassidy, her adored grandchildren Jack, Chloe and Anya Cassidy, and her own siblings, Ceci, Lucy, and Pedro. She is preceded in death by her mother, Hania Castillo, father, Carlos Eduardo, and siblings Allen, Tony, Carlos, and Hania.
Visitation will be held at Harrell Funeral Home on December 28th, 2022, at 5PM. Funeral service will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church on December 29th, 2022 at 10 AM with Father Sam Bass of Santa Cruz Catholic Church officiating. Harrell Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
