Obituary for Guadalupe "Lupe" G. Carrizales

Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Carrizales, 83, of Austin, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Lupe was born in Uhland, Texas to David and Esther Carrizales on December 4, 1938.

Lupe graduated from Lockhart High School in 1958. He was a member of the 1955 District and Bi-District champion Lockhart Lions football team. He met his future bride at St. Mary’s Catholic Youth Organization. They would marry on July 19, 1959 and have five sons and two daughters.   Lupe worked at Handy Andy, HEB, Appletree and Randall’s for 42 years. He was an active member of his community and helped establish the Montopolis Lion’s Club and the Montopolis Little League. He was also an active parishioner of Dolores Catholic Church where he was a member of the Sacred Heart Society and the usher ministry. If there was one thing many people would say about Lupe was that he was willing to help with anything and everything.

Lupe is survived by his loving wife, Vivian, of 62 years, children Donald, Steve (Anita), Vincent (Susan), Joseph (Karen), Jessica Costilla (Albert), David (Rae Ann), Angelica Holderfield, 12 grandchildren Leticia (Juan), Vicente (Eva), Christina, Steven, Michael (Tiela), Vanessa, Marc, Albert, Angel (Sara), Gabriella, Noah, Mikayla, 10 great-grandchildren Stacy, Liliana, Alejandro, Sara, Abigail, Matthew, Victoria, Niko, Violet, Lilly and 1 great-great-grandchild Xavier; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. He is also survived by his brother Pete (Mary). He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings Alicia Gochicoa, Eloisa Guzman, Ismael Carrizales, Rina Ramirez and Ramiro Carrizales.

Visitation will begin at 5pm with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7pm on Thursday, February 24th at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin (4435 Frontier Trail). Funeral mass will be held at Dolores Catholic Church in Austin (1111 Montopolis Dr.). on Friday, February 25th at 11am with burial following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lockhart, TX (1104 N Commerce St.).
