Guadalupe "Lupe" Sanchez Hernandez, loving wife, mother, and grandmother was called to her eternal home on January 29, 2023 at the age of 67. She was born on November 11, 1955 in Austin, Texas and called it home most of her life.

A loving nurturer, Lupe devoted her life to her family while working for the Texas Department of Transportation, in the Finance Division for over 15 years. While a loving wife to her husband Salvador M. Hernandez Sr., she also played an active role in the lives of her children and especially her grandchildren. Lupe was the light, joy and heart of her family.

Lupe was a cheerful woman who loved to laugh; possessing a great sense of humor that often filled a room with smiles. She best enjoyed the simple things in life like game nights with her grandchildren, family vacations and movies at the theater.

Lupe lived for her family and was strong in her faith. She was a true example of a faithful servant. No task for our heavenly Father was too menial. Her unwavering faith in God and devotion to her parish enabled her to touch the lives of many, young and old. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Jamaica Committee at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Petra and Manuel Sanchez.

Lupe is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Salvador M. Hernandez Sr.; her children, Delilah Hernandez and husband, Salvador Jr., Robert Camacho, and Danielle Gilkey and husband, Ryan; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Hernandez, Brandon Hernandez, Zachary Hernandez, Gracie Hernandez, Ryan Chev Gilkey, Peter Gilkey; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home of Austin. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Friday.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E. 9th St., Austin, TX. A reception will follow at the church.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Manchaca, Texas.
