Ewell M. Lawrence, Jr., 83, of Austin passed away November 6, 2022 in Austin, Texas. He was born December 14, 1938 In Aspermont, Texas to Ewell Lawrence, Sr. and Mary Louise Clack Lawrence.

Ewell graduated from Sweetwater High School and attended Tarleton College and was a cheerleader there. He later served in the Army National Guard of Texas.

He married LaNelle Uselton in 1969, who preceded him in death in 2006.

He was the owner of Lawrence Paper Company and later worked for Affordable Car Rentals. He was very active in charity and community activities. He ran for President of the Austin Jaycees with the slogan "Lawrence of Austin". He was also an active member of the Shriners, played in the Drum and Bugle Corp.

He is preceded in death his parents, his wife LaNelle Lawrence, a sister, Elouise Link and a brother, Calvin Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Britton Lawrence; a son, Greg Lawrence; a daughter; Joy Lawrence; his sisters, Jean Williams of Brackettville, Texas and Mary Lou Taylor of Hooks, Texas; and a granddaughter, Kona Rain Lawrence Brundige.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas with Rev. Ricky Carstensen officiating.
