Obituary for Elizabeth Ruth Kappler

Elizabeth Ruth Kappler, 93, of Austin, TX, passed away peacefully in her sleep and called home to her Heavenly Father November 3rd , 2022. Elizabeth was born in Warda, Texas on August 15th, 1929, the daughter of Ernst and Laura (Kasper) Bittner. She was baptized August 25th , 1929 and confirmed on April 14th , 1943 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. Her confirmation verse was Isaiah 43:1, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine". Elizabeth was claimed by God many years ago and lived a life filled with faith and inspired others to do so.

She married the love of her life, Erwin Kappler on November 22nd , 1953 and were married for 52 years until his passing on September 16th , 2005. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Patricia, affectionately called "Patsy". Patsy lovingly cared for her Mother for the last 17 years after Erwin's passing and will dearly miss her Mom.

Not only was Elizabeth a wife and a mother, but she also spent more than 40 years making other women feel beautiful as a hair stylist in Austin. Elizabeth's family and clients enjoyed her sparkling personality, welcoming smile, quick wit, and sense of humor. If you were lucky enough to be in her presence you always felt uplifted. Elizabeth was the ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy plus many nephews and nieces including their children. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gilbert Bittner; and her beloved sister, Edline Bittner Weishuhn.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November the 8th from 3:00 to 5:00. Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, November 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 with a prayer service following at Harrel Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas. Final visitation will be 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 FM 1482 in Warda, Texas on Thursday, November 10th, 2022 with Graveside Services immediately following at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3501 Red River, Austin, Texas 78705.
