Obituary for Edward Thomas Brewer

Edward Thomas Brewer, 84, of Llano, passed away December 16, 2022 at the Llano Hospital. Ed is survived by Matt and Julie Manning of Llano and Kristy Brewer and Richard Hall of Marble Falls, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins hold him dear in their hearts.

Ed was born September 2, 1938 to Ernest Raymond Brewer and Della Lakey Brewer in Llano, Texas. Dad was the last surviving brother of his family, and often asked why he was the last one to go.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Susan "Sue" Brewer, brothers, Raymond Ernest Brewer, Harry Wallace Brewer, Walter James W.J. "Copper" Brewer, Kenneth Dale Brewer, and sisters, Geneva Belle Brewer, Shirley Dell Crow, and Oleta Ruth Long.

Dad was the best Dad there ever could be. He loved his girls, Susan, and his family and friends. He was always ready to help or lend an ear.

Ed or "Red" as most people knew him was a lifelong resident of Llano. After high school graduation, he followed in his brother Raymond Brewer's footsteps and worked many years as a journeyman and then inspector on the pipeline. Many years were spent working with Raymond and John driving the interstates with windows down listening to country music on the old eight tracks or the radio. While working in Rochester, Indiana, he met and married the love of his life, Susan Kay Brouyette on March 31,1963. They traveled to where his work took him, but would settle in Llano to raise their two daughters, Julie and Kristy. We had many years together until Mom passed away September 25, 1991. Now he gets to see her again.

When he wasn't pipelining, he was trucking to California with Copper, Kenneth, and John. Later after retirement and not being on the time clock, he enjoyed dancing and visiting with his friends and dance partners at Pardners, the AmVets, and the Cotton Club to hear a tune or catch a waltz.

Ed touched many lives as evident from all the pictures and memories left behind. Shining stars in his life were Lou, Faye, "Sadie Mae", and cousins, Hobby and Sonya.

A service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Llano, Texas, December 27, 2022, as follows, visitation from 12:00-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm with Ron Anderson officiating. Dad said he was a member of the church for over 73 years and walked or was carried across the bridge to church by his mom or sisters. Later Dad would serve as elder for the church. Arrangements made by Harrell Funeral Home of Llano and burial at the Llano Cemetery in Llano, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be, Larry Brewer, Bill Crow, Richard Hall, and Steve Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Blackmon, Mike Long, and Matt Manning.

Thank you to everyone who helped care for Dad during the last few years. Dr. Stotz, Dr. Jason, Dr. Levitan, Dr. Skylar, his favorite therapist, Josh, and Nurse Elaine, and Matt, Richard, and Cody for fixing everything around the house. And above all remember, "God loves you...and so do I."
