Doris Jean Ragland

Doris Jean Ragland "Mema", was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at the age of 91. Jean was born on January 18th, 1932 in Walnut Springs, Texas to Lottie and Jim Alsup.

Jean married the love of her life, Jerle (Buddy) Ragland, on May 12th, 1970. As they traveled the world together, they enjoyed Country Music festivals, sightseeing, family time, and just being together. Our family takes comfort in knowing that the two of them have been reunited at heavens gates.

Jean enjoyed playing softball in her younger years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company which she later retired from after 31 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Westoak Woods Baptist Church. She was known for being a sharp dressed businesswoman with the best hair in town.

Family members preceded in death; husband Jerle Ragland; son, Mike Cayce; siblings, Joan Holiday, Carolyn Alsup, and James Alsup.

Survivors left with her memories; siblings Louis Dunn, Nina Chapman, and Nelda Bailey. Grand children Christy Hutson, husband Richard of Elgin, Texas. Ryan Cayce, wife Amy of San Marcos, Texas. Great grandkids Jessica (Horace) Baumgardner, Courtney Patton (Cody), Jacob Hutson (Shelby), Bailey Hutson, Cameron Cayce, and Braden Cayce. Great great grandchildren Payte, Riggin, Pryce, and Kinsley along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Jean will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be 4:00PM on Thursday March 9th, 2023, at Philips Cemetery in Dripping Springs, TX.
