Dolores
Lavern
Dove
Our family matriarch, Dolores Dove, went to Heaven on Sunday, July 10, and for all of us the world became just a little less bright. She was smart, and beautiful, and generous, and funny, and so very loved. She was born to Hubert and Nadine Neugent on November 2, 1932. She had two brothers and one sister. She grew up in Brownfield and Lubbock and graduated high school from Polytechnic High in Ft Worth. She went on to business school, and sales, where she moved around to such places like Alaska, Salt Lake City, and even lived for a time at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.
She eventually became a successful real estate broker and property investor. She loved to look at houses, she loved family gatherings, and she had an impressive collection of costume jewelry that she continuously added to. She could play poker for hours and would brag that she could play all day for a hundred dollars; but her favorite hobby of all was going to yard sales and thrift stores. She could find the best deals, a skill she proudly passed on to her daughters. She had other hobbies also over the years like square dancing and playing bridge and dominoes. She lived a full and interesting life, and she had a style like no other.
She is survived by her 3 daughters that adored her - Darla Ornes (Ralph), Tressia Long (Richard), and Amber Chron (George); 7 grandchildren- Kayla Harten (Victor), Kari Rayford (Dewayne), Garland Langford, Destiny Parks (Tom), Chris Langford (Bianca), Alicia Jarrell, and Josh Raines (Maggie); 11 great-grandchildren- Justin (Melissa), Jacob (Dee), Austin, Kelci, Kendall (Bob), Rowan, Reganne, Aaron, Nathan, Donovan, Tristan, and Lilly; and 4 great-great-grandchildren- Kyli, Kenzli, Jude, and Bobby. She is also survived by her sister, Linda, and countless nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Tuesday July 19, at Harrell Funeral Home of Austin, 4435 Frontier Trail. Funeral Services will be held 10:00am on Wednesday, July 20, also at Harrell Funeral Home, with burial following at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
