Obituary for Billy Ray Leger

Billy Ray Leger, Sr., 68, of LaBelle, Texas, left this world on February 6, 2023.

He was born June 7, 1954 in Beaumont, TX. He graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School in 1972, and attended Lamar Technical Institute where he graduated with an associates degree.

He married the love of his life, Amanda, on March 14, 1980; they were married almost 43 years.

Billy Ray was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he loved spending time with his family and never missed an opportunity to attend a game, recital, birthday, or gathering. He spent most of his free time being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, gardening, and playing music on the Cajun accordion every chance he got. Billy Ray never met a stranger, loved to tell stories, and had a personality that filled any room he entered.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Marie Leger (neé: Touchet); his children: daughter Angelica Marie Hearnsberger (neé: Roberts) and her husband Daren Earl Hearnsberger, son Billy Ray Leger Jr., and daughter Christy Leger Kirby and her husband Asa Shea Kirby; grandchildren: Kelsey Lauren Morris (neé: Hearnsberger) and husband Colton Andrew Morris, Melanie Blair Hearnsberger, Tommi Lee Leger, Asa Beau Kirby, and Mabel June Kirby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Horace Leger and Elsie Mae Leger (neé: Barton); siblings Robert Gerald Leger, Leroy Joseph Leger, Carolyn Faye Leger Keneson, and honorary sibling Kim Rodney Teague.

A graveside service will be held in his honor at 1:00 p.m. on February 17, 2023 at Onion Creek Memorial Park in Manchaca, TX facilitated by Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, TX.
