Bettye Davis Cook of Austin, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023 with family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Bettye was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 18, 1928.
Bettye graduated from Dawson High School in 1945 and attended Mary Hardin Baylor the following year. After leaving college, she moved to Waco and met her future husband, Jack Cook, on a blind date. They married in April 1952 and had two children. Waco was their home for 50 years then they moved to Austin 22 years ago to be close to their family. Bettye was happiest spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bettye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Jack Cook, parents Wallace and Allie Davis, sister Vesta Lea Ruggieri and grandson, Brian Cook. She is survived by her children Larry Cook (Miki), Lisa Matthews (Garry); grandsons Garrett Matthews (Sharasa) and Kenny Matthews (Stephanie), and 4 great-grandchildren, Everly, Peyton, Duke and Brooks. Also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 13th at Dawson Cemetery in Dawson, Texas.
