Bettie Lou Pasley (Douglas) passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 7,
2023, after suffering many years from Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on June 22, 1929 in Austin, Texas to David Alexander and Lillie Mae Douglas.
She worked for Southwestern Bell from 1948 until her retirement in 1987. Starting as a switch board operator (just like you see in old movies, pulling cords and plugging them in to the board) to retiring as a plant assigner. She was the first female plant assigner in Austin.
She lived her entire 93 years in Austin. She always said she enjoyed visiting many
different towns and states but there was nothing better than coming home to
Austin. She enjoyed meeting people and talking about how Austin was when she
was growing up.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, George and baby
Alec; three sisters, Cora Lee, Beulah, Rachel; and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind her son, David Pasley (Donna), of Spicewood, TX; daughter,
Catherine Longoria (James), of Spicewood, TX; Two grandchildren, Nathaniel
Pasley, of Austin, TX, and Cassandra Maybury (Paul), of Ft Worth, TX; Two great
grandsons, Nathaniel Jr., and Zachery Pasley, of Austin, TX; and one great
granddaughter, Beatrix, of Ft Worth, TX; as well as many, many nieces, nephews.
She resided at Gateway Gardens/Villa in Marble Falls for several years where she
was loved by the staff. She later moved to "The Brixton" in Horseshoe Bay, Texas
where she received exceptional care until her death.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home of Austin. A reception will follow the service.
