Ben Perez, age 88, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in east Austin on February 20, 2023. He was born July 18, 1934, in Giddings, Texas.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Helen, whom they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 15th, and his children Vincent (Cecilia), Robert (Brenda), Barry, John (Cindi), Susan Carrizales (Vincent), and Gilbert (Dilara). He has 12 grandchildren, Veronica, Vincent, Ashley, Eric, Bobby, Tony, Scott, Jenny, Vanessa and Marc Carrizales, and Alex and Jimmy Schindler. He is also survived by his brother, Jesse Perez.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Jesusa Perez of Giddings, Texas, and his siblings, Victoria, Guadalupe, Paula, Ella, Jean, Butch and David.

Ben played for the 1A state football champions for Giddings High School. He proudly served our county in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne and Reserve.

Ben worked for McNair's TV & Appliance in Austin for 40 years, then for Sears/Maxserve for 18 years. He spent the last few years working part-time at Morris Williams Golf Course.

Ben was a member of the Pan-Am Golf Association, an avid golfer, handyman, and Jack-of-all-trades.

Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 126 W. Oltorf St, Austin, TX 78704. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
