Obituary for Barbara Jean Abbott

Barbara Stewart Abbott was born in Llano, Texas (six mile community) in 1942 to Therbert Wesley Stewart and Otelia Tinsley Stewart. She attended school in Llano, graduating in 1960. During school she was active in FHA, FTA, Pep Squad, Class Secretary, Buzz and Annual Staff, Student Council and Jr. and Sr. plays. She graduated number 10 in her class.

Following graduation she attended Temple Jr. College and then enrolled in Scott and White Hospital School of Professional Nursing. After graduation and passing the exam she became a registered nurse in the State of Texas. Her career spanned for 54 years with retirement from Ascension Seton Highland Lakes in 2016. Employments included 10 years in Lubbock as Night Supervisor and Director of Nursing. In 1972 she returned to hill country, residing in Kingsland, Texas. She began working in Burnet as Night Supervisor and Director of Nursing for a span of 10 years. Resigning as Director, she worked the emergency department. A hip replacement required reduction in nursing activities. She then took an office position and worked until 2016, completing 44 years.

Survived by Dan Stubblefield and wife Karen, Steven Stubblefield and wife Kim, Neal Abbott and wife Julie, brother Ben Stewart and wife Denise. Grandchildren and great grandchildren

Preceded in death by parents Therbert and Otelia Stewart, first husband Loyd Stubblefield and second husband Billy Abbott.

She enjoyed growing cactus, crossword puzzles, garage sales, fishing and watching jeopardy.

As requested, cremation and no services. Memorials to Solaris Hospice or charity of your choice.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
