Obituary for Arthur Lafayette Stephenson

Arthur Lafayette Stephenson was born on April 14, 1940 in Paige, TX and passed away on December 8, 2022 at home at the age of 82 years old. Arthur was predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Eula Mae Stephenson, sister Francis Stanfield, and daughter-in-law Cynthia Stephenson.

Arthur is survived by his wife Gladys Carpenter Stephenson; Children, Sandra and Aaron Vincent, AJ and Dora Massey Stephenson, Larry and Terri Stephenson, Alan and Dana Stephenson, 7 Grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and siblings: Dorothy Anderson, Wallace Stephenson, and Judy Porter.

Arthur went to Elgin High School. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1266. He worked as a Contractor and had his own construction company for over 20 years.

He was married to Gladys Stephenson for 63 wonderful years together and had 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

He enjoyed farming, ranching, fishing, and hunting, traveling (any chance he could), camping and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. His favorite past time was making his family endure watching his Vintage Western Movies while eating one of his favorite desserts German Chocolate Cake. He was a member of Bateman Baptist Church.

He will be remembered for his generosity, his big personality, and that he never met a stranger. And of course hanging Christmas lights with a backhoe.

Visitation will be held at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle on Wednesday, 14th of December, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Funeral/Memorial service will be held at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle on December 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Kyle Cemetery 3354 CR 136, Kyle, TX 78640. Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle will be handling the funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Home Health Care Workers and Family and Friends for their care and kind words of Arthur during his last days with us.

Arthur (Grandpa,Dad, Red, Shorty) will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
