Obituary for Andre Maurice Nelson

Today is full of memories of a son laid to rest.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Andre' Maurice Nelson (Dre).

On January 10, 2023 Andre' unexpectedly passed away at his home in Austin at the age of 39. He was born at Wilford Hall Hospital on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas on December 9, 1983. Andre was the second of four children born and oldest son of Lawrence and Rebecca Nelson.

Andre' attended many schools around the world being a military brat! Once his father retired from the United States Air Force his family moved to Kyle to lay down roots and make Texas there family home.

Andre' graduated from Hays High School and enjoyed playing on the football team. He was also enrolled in Air Force ROTC

Always the extrovert Andre' could brighten anyone's day with a genuine smile and warm personality. The world has dimmed a little as a bright star goes to his final resting place.

Ever the adventurer, Andre' loved to travel to new places, cook and gather secret recipes from his mom, enjoy Eagles games with his dad, or listen to music, he was a big Michael Jackson fan. Andre' was very articulate with a great passion for writing, he was also a dedicated "Foodie" always looking for new restaurants, and different foods to try. but what he loved most of all was being a good dad to his daughter and a role model for his nephews while spending time with his family and friends making memories, laughing, loving and enjoying life.

Andre' is survived by his 12 year old daughter, Arrihanna D. Nelson, his parents, Lawrence and Rebecca Nelson, his siblings Alisha D. Nelson, Andrew M. Nelson, Adrian M. Nelson, nephews Malakai D. Nelson, Andreas M. Nelson and long term partner Crystal Cordero and kids, Ahmad, Jacqueline and Braylon

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have friends and family who were there for us during this challenging time, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone, and express our gratitude to all for helping us bring our son to his final resting place.

To honor Dre's memory, we are holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 28, 2023 with gathering of family and friends beginning at 10:00 am with service at 11:00 am at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle, 1715 Kirby, Kyle, TX with burial to follow at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, TX.

"Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again."
