Alan Shawn Merry was born on February 16, 1955, in Fillmore, California to Stan Merry and Alice Thompson. As a young man in 1980, he was Baptized in Glendale, Oregon at The First Baptist Church and lived his life loving the Lord. In 1993 he moved to Texas where he met and married Debra (Prellop) Merry. As a family they lived in Marble Falls and then Kingsland, Texas where Alan worked as a painting contractor. He will be remembered by most as a private man who kept to himself but to those who were lucky enough to be let into his heart, he will be greatly missed for his dedication, love, and friendship.

Alan was received by the Lord on February 11, 2023 preceded in death by his parents Stan Merry and Alice Thompson , leaving behind his brother Larry Merry of Fillmore, CA. He will forever be missed by his wife, companion, and best friend Debra Merry of Kingsland, Texas, Son James, Daughter-in-law Carolyn and grandson James (JT) (Wimberley, Texas), Daughter Kimberley and granddaughter Alex (Princeton, Illinois).
