Obituary for Adele Elizabeth Calvillo

Adele Elizabeth Calvillo was born on March 1, 1943 in Austin, Texas to Antonio and Sarah Lupercio. She passed away on June 4, 2022 after battling various illnesses.

She grew up in Austin Texas and attended St. Mary's Cathedral and Academy. There she developed her faith and learned a love of singing and theater. As a young girl she traveled with her family as they worked in California as migrant workers. It was during these times she learned the skill of crocheting which lead to a lifetime of further interests in all things creative.

In 1962, she met the love of her life, Efren Calvillo. They married on November 17, 1962 in Austin. They moved to Houston and settled in Friendswood, Texas where they raised their three children and lived for 52 years.

Adele continued to educate herself learning new crafts. Her skills included cooking, ceramics, macrame, stained glass, jewelry making, and she was an accomplished seamstress. These skills allowed her to lovingly share with her family, the church and the new community they called home.

She was an active member of Mary Queen Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering and singing in the church as a participant of the choir and folk group.

She had developed a love of all plants. She grew and donated plants to various organizations, and she won numerous flower arranging awards and was an active member of the Friendswood Heritage Gardeners for over 30 years.

Adele was a strong, courageous and generous woman who loved her family and loved helping those in need. She never hesitated to offer a lending hand or an open door to those who were struggling, hurting, or needed a place to call home.

Although small in stature, she was a strong and mighty woman, wonderful wife, loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Sarah Lupercio, Brothers Bobby, and Antonio Jr. (Pops).

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years Efren Calvillo. sisters; Peggy (Paul), Irene (Omar), Linda (Kwang), brother; Carlos (Lupita). Sons; Rene', Michael, and daughter; Elizabeth (Paul). Grandsons; Nathaniel (Annabel), Benjamin (Leanne), granddaughter; Sarah and Great granddaughter; Adelyn.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -  7:00 PM with the rosary to follow at 7:00 PM, on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Harrell Funeral Home of Austin, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. Mary Cathedral located at 203 E 10th St, Austin, TX 78701. Folowed by burial at Assumption Cemetery.
